Chris “right hook” Brown

How come I just hearing about this?  Seems that Chris Brown was denied a UK visa for his European Tour the day before it began based on his background of domestic abuse.  A UK Border Patrol Spokesperson stated: “We reserve the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offense.  Public safety is one of our primary concerns. Each application to enter the UK is considered on its individual merits.”  Wonder if the spokesperson was a woman?

All I can say is that I hope he realizes that this is never going to fade away.

Tila Tequila suffers cuts, but escapes juggalos attack

By Alan Duke, CNN

August 15, 2010 1:38 a.m. EDT

Reality TV star Tila Tequila suffered facial cuts when she was pelted with rocks and bottles while performing at a music festival in Illinois early Saturday, according to a witness and a law enforcement official.

“She’s pretty cut up,” said a performer who saw the violence at the “Gathering of the Juggalos” in rural Hardin County, Illinois. The witness asked not to be identified so that he does not anger the juggalos.

Tequila, a Playboy model who also sings, posted a Twitter message Saturday, saying she would sue the festival, which is organized for fans of the hip-hop group Insane Clown Posse.

“Pretty soon, the owners who run the juggalos will be bankrupt,” she tweeted.

The fans are mostly young people who sometimes wear clown make-up and are referred to as juggalos and juggalettes.

Festival organizers did not immediately respond to CNN requests for a response.

The performer said a mob of hundreds chased Tequila from the stage and surrounded the trailer where she sought refuge. They rocked the trailer and smashed its windows, he said.

Tequila eventually escaped, but only after windows in her SUV were smashed, the witness said.

Hardin County Sheriff Tom Seiner and a statement posted online by Tequila offered similar descriptions of the events.

“I went onstage and immediately, before I even got on stage, dudes were throwing huge stone rocks in my face, beer bottles that slit my eye open, almost burnt my hair … cuz they threw firecrackers on stage,” she wrote.

The witness, who was standing in the rear of the stage, said the crowd of about 2,000 was immediately angry toward Tequila and she was unable to turn them around.

“She was taunting them,” he said. “She didn’t know how to handle them. She didn’t understand the dynamic.”

The rocks and bottles flew harder and faster when Tequila bared her breasts, he said.

“She took her top off and they got really violent,” he said.

Tequila continued to perform even after her face started bleeding, he said. “She was holding a towel to her head, blood pouring down her face,” he said.

“It was scary as hell!” Tequila wrote.

This was not the only violent incident at the festival early Saturday, Seiner said.

A 49-year-old Georgia man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another man in the abdomen just hours earlier, he said.

Comic Greg Giraldo dies at age 44

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Comedian Greg Giraldo died on Wednesday at age 44, five days after being hospitalized for what celebrity media reported was a prescription drug overdose.

Producers for the NBC TV show “Last Comic Standing”, where Giraldo was a judge, confirmed celebrity media reports that the stand-up comic had died in New Jersey.

“Greg was one of the most talented comedians of our time. He was truly brilliant. His work will surely continue to influence and inspire us. We will miss our friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” the statement said.

Celebrity website TMZ.com, citing sources close to Giraldo, said the overdose was not a suicide bid, but was the result of an accidental drug overdose.

More churches openly violate IRS rules for tax exemption

A growing number of churches are thumbing their noses at federal law and diving into the political arena … putting their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status at risk.

According to the I.R.S.’s rules and regulations, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (which includes churches) may not “influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.” It’s simply part of the deal that in order to exist without paying taxes, certain types of political action are off-limits.

It’s rare, but the I.R.S. can revoke a group’s tax-exempt status if they violate the rules and did so for the first time in 1995. In the last few years, more and more churches, however, are crossing the line on purpose.

An Oklahoma church pastor is openly endorsing political candidates and proudly proclaims the I.R.S. is doing nothing to stop him. If they do, he vows to fight “all the way to the Supreme Court.”

In Iowa, a church is getting attention because its leader is openly trying to get rid of three of the state’s Supreme Court justices. “In fact, I hope the IRS tries to do something about it,” Rev. Cary Gordon, associate pastor with Cornerstone World Outreach said. “I think that the current IRS code is a violation of the First Amendment.”

Earlier this year, American United for Separation of Church and State (AU) asked the I.R.S. to investigate Dove World Outreach Center, the church which has since become famous for the threat to burn Korans last month. The church put up a sign that stated “No Homo Mayor” in reference to Craig Lowe, a gay candidate for mayor of Gainesville, Fla.

AU has also asked the I.R.S. to investigate a South Dakota church when a pastor there endorsed a candidate for governor. Rev. H. Wayne Williams, pastor of Liberty Baptist Tabernacle in Sioux City, S.D., reportedly endorsed Gordon Howie, a Republican who was looking for his party’s nomination for governor.

There are groups asking for the revocation of the tax-exempt status of the Mormon Church, based largely on their push to get a constitutional amendment passed in California banning same-sex marriage. One blogger pushing for the I.R.S. to step in, sympathetic to the church, wrote: “I have never harbored ill will toward the Church, but I am deeply troubled at how the Church’s efforts were likely the deciding factor in California’s recent vote to take away the right to marry from same-sex couples.”

And, of course, the extremely nutty Westboro Baptist Church has a Facebook page devoted to revoking their tax-exempt status.

It seems that many churches are openly violating the law and the I.R.S. is sitting around letting it happen. It is unclear why nothing is being done, but this can’t go on for long. The I.R.S. will have to do something at some point. Hopefully, they’ll charge a whole group of churches at the same time in order to show the serious nature of the problem.

If churches want to legally engage in politics they can easily do so. They just need to give up their tax-exempt status and pray for more money to make up the difference. If prayer works, as they assert, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Randy and Evi Quaid miss court, face arrest
(CNN) — A judge issued bench warrants for the arrest of actor Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, after the couple failed to appear for a court hearing Monday in Santa Barbara, California, a court spokesman said.
The Quaids were ordered to appear for a hearing on burglary charges filed last month after police were called to a Montecito, California, residence to investigate a report of squatters.
A representative for the owner of the property came by the house to check the security alarm because it had gone off earlier that day and then discovered that someone was living in the property’s guesthouse, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
The Quaids weren’t around at the time, but upon their return later that evening the couple told police that they have “owned the property since the 1990s,” the statement from the sheriff’s department said. The owners had documentation that another buyer had purchased the property from the Quaids several years earlier, according to the statement.
A contractor who worked on the residence told police he believes the couple caused more than $5,000 in damages in the guesthouse, and the Quaids were charged with residential burglary.
The judge revoked their $50,000 bond when they failed to show up for Monday’s hearing, the court spokesman said.
Another hearing was set for next Tuesday.

Randy Quaid, wife flee ‘Hollywood ‘star whackers’ ’ VANCOUVER, B.C. — Actor Randy Quaid and his wife told Canada’s immigration board Friday they are seeking refuge in Canada because they are afraid of a shadowy group responsible for killing their Hollywood friends. They were arrested Thursday afternoon in a shopping area of an affluent Vancouver neighborhood on U.S. warrants related to vandalism charges. The pair told an adjudicator that the actor has had eight close friends murdered in recent years and fear they could be next. “We feel our lives are in danger,” Evi Quaid told the board hearing. Their lawyer gave the media a note in which the couple said, “Yes we are requesting asylum from Hollywood ‘STAR WHACKERS.’  Among their “murdered” friends were actors Heath Ledger, who died in 2008 from an apparent drug overdose, and David Carradine, who died from what police said was auto-erotic asphyxiation, the Vancouver Sun reported.
They were released on cash bonds of $10,000 each after they appeared before at the immigration hearing in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Quaids are wanted in Santa Barbara, where they missed a court hearing Monday on felony vandalism charges. Santa Barbara County Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter said Friday that the Quaids bail increased to $500,000 apiece. The Quaids frequently missed court appearances in an earlier U.S. case involving charges they defrauded an innkeeper. That case was resolved in April with Evi Quaid pleading no contest to a misdemeanor. The charges against her husband were dropped.  Evi Quaid said she’s been told by a jail nurse that her blood pressure is dangerously high due to stress and that Randy Quaid’s mother has been hospitalized in the U.S. as a result of the stress from their legal troubles. The Quaids said they came to Canada for legitimate reasons and had no intention of skipping out on a warrant issued for their arrest in the United States. “I would not do anything to besmirch my reputation any further than it has been,” the actor said. “I’m trying to do damage control.” Added his wife: “I feel safe here.” The Quaids, who said they needed to prepare their case and care for their puppy, hugged when the decision was announced. Their next hearing is set for Oct. 28.

WTF?

Baby killed as family jumps from Paris window after ‘devil sighting’

A baby died when a family of 12 leapt from their second floor balcony in Paris claiming they were fleeing the devil.

Eight more were injured, some seriously, in the tragedy when they jumped 20ft into a car park in Paris suburb of La Verriere.

The baffling incident occurred when a wife woke to see her husband moving about naked in the room, police said.

She began screaming ‘it’s the devil! it’s the devil!’, and the man ran into the other room where 11 others adults and children were watching television. One woman grabbed a knife and stabbed the man before others pushed him out through the front door.

When the man forced his way back in, they all began screamed in terror and leapt from the balcony screaming ‘Jesus! Jesus!’

The naked man also leapt from the balcony, detectives said.

A four-month old baby died in his mother’s arms, while a two-year-old was critically injured in yesterday’s incident.

Police said they had found no evidence of hallucinogenic drugs or unusual religious rituals.

Versailles assistant prosecutor Odile Faivre added: “A wife in the next room saw her husband moving around naked and began screaming that he was the devil.

“In the confusion following this apparent case of mistaken identity, the naked man’s sister-in-law stabbed him in the hand and he was ejected through the front door of the flat.

“When he attempted to get back in, panic erupted and the other occupants of the flat fled by jumping out of the window.

“A number of points surrounding this incident remain to be cleared up,” Mr Faivre said.

That’s the message on 40 billboards around Nashville, proclaiming May 21, 2011, as the date of the Rapture. Billboards are up in eight other U.S. cities, too.
Fans of Family Radio Inc., a nationwide Christian network, paid for the billboards. Family Radio’s founder, Harold Camping, predicted the May date for the Rapture.
Their message is simple — “He Is Coming Again” — and their aim is to get unbelievers to turn around quickly. But critics say the billboards are a waste of time, one more failed attempt to predict the end of the world.
